She Sings the Songs that Make the World Go Round
Much like my friend Lexi, who loves it, music is always a source of inspiration
My friend Lexi is the gal everybody wants to get next to. People seek her approval, her input, or her show of interest in whatever they’re doing.
Lexi sprinkles fairy dust wherever she is, and she’s a force for good.
The party hasn’t started until Lexi arrives! She doesn’t bitch about people, her sweet face and figure always attract attention, as does her great sense of humour. Lexi loves animals — cats, dogs, she even adopted a horse — and makes time for everyone.
One of Lexi’s sweetest quirks, is doing everything with a song. Bring up something in conversation, and she’ll sing the line of a song back, which relates to what you just said.
Maybe Lexi’s mother was Madonna and her dad was Billy Joel, and she built her city on rock and roll and quite likely left her heart on the dancefloor. Build her up, Buttercup and she’ll say thank you for the music, the songs they’re singing, thanks for all the joy they’re bringing.
“Ohh Lexi, what can I do? Everything’s gone pear-shaped.”
“Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play | And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate | Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake | I shake it off | I shake it off “ — Taylor Swift, Shake it Off
“My boss is on the warpath, Lexi. I wish I had stayed on the sales team’s side in that meeting.”
“By now | you should’ve somehow | realized what you’re not to do.” — Oasis, Wonderwall
“I don’t like the look of those grey clouds, pehaps I’ll take an umbrella when I go out.”
“Thunderbolt and lightning | very very frightening me | Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo” — Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody
“Why can I never find my stuff? Lexi, have you seen my handbag?”
“To the left, to the left | everything you own in a box to the left” — Beyonce, Irreplaceable

Are you lost in music like Lexi? Do you hear a beautiful noise coming up from the street?
The lyrics of music frequently inspire my writing . Sometimes a title begs to be expanded and explored, other times I’ll get a spark from something within the body of the song, or the mood it evokes when I listen to it.
